Audition Information
Admission into the Joffrey Academy Summer Intensives is by audition only. Summer Intensive auditions are open to all students ages 7 to 21+. Students should audition according to their age on the date of the audition, not the age they will be during the time of the summer program.

Advanced Summer Intensive- 5 Weeks
(Formerly International Summer Dance Intensive)
Ages 12-21+
June 18 – July 20, 2018
9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
The Advanced Summer Intensive 5 Week Program at the Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet is a five-week intensive designed for the serious ballet student, ages 12 and older, who is aspiring to a professional dance career. Daily classes include ballet technique, pointe, variations, men’s class, partnering, and classical repertoire. The program will also include weekly classes in modern, jazz, body conditioning, character, contemporary repertoire, and Pilates.
Seminars on Joffrey history and dance careers, as well as exciting field trips around Chicago are all a part of this unique experience. Classes are taught by The Joffrey Ballet’s Artistic Staff and Joffrey Academy Faculty. This intensive culminates with a presentation to showcase everything the students have learned.
Advanced Summer Intensive- 3 Weeks
(Formerly Dance Lab Summer Intensive)
Ages 12-21+
July 23 – August 10, 2018
9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
In the Advanced Summer Intensive 3 Week Program, intermediate to advanced level students ages 12 and older will work on developing technique and be challenged in various disciplines while working with top dance professionals. The three week curriculum includes daily classes in ballet technique, pointe and classical repertoire, as well as weekly classes in modern, jazz, contemporary repertoire, character and Pilates. Classes in nutrition, choreography and other enrichment seminars will also be included. Classes are taught by Joffrey Academy Faculty and Artistic Staff. The program will end with a performance for friends, family and the community.
Junior Summer Intensive Level 3
Ages 9-14+
June 25 – July 13, 2018

The Junior Summer Intensive Level 3 at the Joffrey Academy of Dance is a rigorous three week program. This program is designed for the serious young dancer who loves ballet. Classes include ballet technique, pointe/pre-pointe, classical repertoire, character, jazz, modern and flexibility. A presentation for family and friends at the end of the intensive will showcase the students’ hard work and talents. Classes are taught by Joffrey Academy Faculty and Artistic Staff.
