THE JOFFREY BALLET NAMES NEW DIRECTOR OF MARKETING; VESNA ARSIC BRINGS MORE THAN 15 YEARS OF INTERNATIONAL MARKETING EXPERIENCE TO THE POSITION

August 15, 2005 – The Chicago-based, world-renowned Joffrey Ballet announced today that Vesna Arsic has been appointed Director of Marketing, effective immediately.

Arsic, 40, joins The Joffrey Ballet with more than 15 years of international experience, both in the public and private sector. She has focused upon global business activities related to marketing, strategy, and business development, most recently in the telecommunications field. She has worked with AT&T France, Ameritech International, Sprint International, and UUNET Technologies, an internet start-up firm sold to WorldCom. In September 1997, she launched Global Technology Resources LLC, a New York-based consulting firm. In August 1999, she joined Motorola as Director of Corporate Marketing Strategy (and was named one of Crain’s Chicago Business “40 Under 40”). In February 2002, she launched Global Strategic Advisors, a consulting firm that assisted U.S.-based companies in expanding their products and services globally. In addition to her Fortune 1000 experience, Arsic has been a consultant, frequent freelance writer, and public speaker.

“Vesna brings a rich experience to The Joffrey that will greatly assist the company in both our own corporate branding and development of corporate sponsorships as we enter our 50th Anniversary Celebration,” said Jon Teeuwissen, Executive Director of The Joffrey Ballet.

Arsic received a dual Masters Degree in International Relations and Communications from Boston University. She has also studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, the American Institute in Aix-en-Provence, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, and the British Institute in Florence. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Northern Illinois University. Arsic is tri-lingual (English, French and Serbian) and conversant in Spanish and Italian. She resides in River North with her four and a half-year-old son, Nikola.

Originally founded in 1956 by Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino, The Joffrey Ballet will launch its 50th Anniversary Celebration this Fall, spanning two seasons and including a major summer celebration in-between. The Joffrey’s 2005-2006 Season will begin in October with a mixed-repertory program entitled A Midsummer Night’s Dream, followed by the holiday favorite, The Nutcracker; the full-evening masterpiece, Romeo and Juliet; and a contemporary Spring program, Cool Vibrations. Single tickets for all of these productions are now on sale, and start as low as $15.
