WILLIAM M. DALEY AND RONALD V. WATERS III NAMED CO-CHAIRS OF JOFFREY BALLET BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

JOFFREY BOARD ALSO ELECTS NINE NEW MEMBERS

 

June 9, 2005 – William M. Daley and Ronald V. Waters III were elected Co-Chairs of The Joffrey Ballet Board of Directors at the Board’s annual meeting today, announced Jon H. Teeuwissen, Executive Director of the Chicago-based classical ballet company. Daley and Waters will replace out-going Joffrey Ballet Board Chair, Pamela B. Strobel , who has chaired the board since February 2002. This is the first time in The Joffrey’s history that its Board of Directors has elected two Chairs. Daley and Waters will serve as co-chairs through the next two years as The Joffrey celebrates its 50th Anniversary.

In addition, The Joffrey Ballet Board of Directors has named nine new members: Leslie D. Dent, Partner, Katten Muchin Rosenman Corporate Practice; Sonia Florian, Director, NIB Foundation; Bart Kocha, Vice President, A.T. Kearney ; Madeline Lesnik, Executive Vice President, KemperLesnik Communications; Barry Litwin, Senior Vice President, U.S. Bank; Todd W. Lillibridge, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Lillibridge Healthcare Real Estate Trust.; Theri Griego Raby, MD, Medical Director/Founder, Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group; Gary L. Slack, Chairman and Chief Experience Officer, Slack Barshinger; and Susan A. Stone, Litigation Partner, Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP. The membership of The Joffrey Ballet Board of Directors now totals 70.

Originally founded in 1956 by Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino, The Joffrey Ballet will launch its 50th Anniversary this Fall, spanning two seasons, 2005-2006 & 2006-2007, including a major Summer 2006 celebration. The Joffrey Ballet’s Golden Anniversary celebration will begin in October 2005 with a mixed-repertory program entitled A Midsummer Night’s Dream, followed by the holiday favorite, The Nutcracker; the full-evening masterpiece, Romeo and Juliet; and a contemporary Spring program, Cool Vibrations. ABOUT THE NEW JOFFREY BOARD OF DIRECTORS CO-CHAIRS

William M. Daley – Chairman of the Midwest Region – JPMorgan Chase & Co.

William Daley represents JPMorgan Chase at the most senior level to clients and is the senior executive for the Midwest region. He also serves on the firm’s Executive Committee and International Council. Prior to joining JPMorgan Chase, Daley served as President for SBC Communications for three years. In 2000, he chaired Al Gore’s campaign for President of the United States. Daley also served as U.S. Secretary of Commerce under President Clinton from 1997-2000. In 1993, he coordinated the successful campaign to pass the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). In addition to his successful career in business and politics, Daley also serves on the Boards of Directors of Abbott Laboratories, Boston Properties, Inc., the Art Institute of Chicago, The United Way of Metropolitan Chicago and Loyola University. He has been an active member of The Joffrey Ballet Board of Directors since 2002.

Ronald V. Waters III – Chief Operating Officer – Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company

Ron Waters is Chief Operating Officer for the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, Chicago, Illinois, the world’s leading chewing gum manufacturer, and is responsible for Wrigley’s worldwide strategy. Waters assumed this position in December 2003 after being the company’s Chief Financial Officer for four years. He began his business career with KPMG Peat Marwick, and gained a wide variety of experience with them; he served as a partner for the last decade of his nineteen years with the firm. In 1993 Ron resigned KPMG to join Gillette Europe as Vice President Finance and Administration. He serves on the Board of Directors of HNI Corporation, the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, the Goodman Theatre, and the Latin School of Chicago. Waters has been an involved member of The Joffrey Ballet Board since 2003, and most recently served as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee. His wife, Ann, is a Member-at-Large of The Joffrey Ballet Women’s Board.

ABOUT THE NEW JOFFREY BALLET BOARD MEMBERS

Leslie D. Dent – Partner – Katten Muchin Rosenman’s Corporate Practice

Leslie D. Dent is a Partner in the Katten Muchin Rosenman’s Corporate Practice and concentrates in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, private equity and general corporate matters, representing clients in a wide variety of industries. She represents both public and private companies in structuring, negotiating and documenting both mergers with, and acquisitions and dispositions of, public and private corporations. She also represents private equity funds making investments in, engaging in leveraged buyouts of and selling portfolio companies. She serves as a member of the Recruiting Committee and the Chair of the Diversity Committee of the Firm. Dent is a member of the National Black MBA Association, Inc., the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago, the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association and the Committee on Corporate Governance.

Sonia Florian – Director – NIB Foundation

Sonia Florian is the Director of the NIB Foundation and has been a long time fan of the classical arts. Ms. Florian and her husband, William, owned and operated WNIB-FM, the former classical radio music station in Chicago. Upon sale of the radio station in 2001, the Florians created the NIB Foundation, which actively supports the performing arts and environmental causes. The NIB Foundation has provided major support for the Joffrey Ballet over the years, from annual gifts for general operation support to significant gifts such as program sponsor for the Ashton Anniversary and production sponsorships dedicated to the renovation and refurbishment of sets and costumes for Romeo and Juliet, Petrouchka and Dark Elegies for The Joffrey.

Bart Kocha – Vice President – A.T. Kearney

Bart Kocha, VP of A.T. Kearney, a global management consulting firm, has twenty years of successful industry and business consulting experience including over ten years of practice design, development, growth and management. He recently founded a fourth global service practice for A.T. Kearney, Enterprise Services Transformation, and grew it to over $100 million in annual revenue in less than three years. He has been responsible for two of A.T. Kearney’s largest transformation clients – generating $200 million in fees, and well over a billion dollars in benefits over six years.

Madeline Lesnik – Executive Vice President – KemperLesnik Communications

Mady Lesnik received her Bachelor of Arts Degree at the Connecticut College for Women and participated in the Connecticut College School of Dance. Lesnik has served as an Institute for the Arts Grants Administrator and Educator. Since 1980, she has been the Executive Vice President and member of the Board of Directors of the KemperLesnik Organization, which is a consultant to Fortune 500 companies. She is a patron of the Ragdale School for Writers, a founding member of the board at the Belle Center of Chicago and a member of the President’s Council of the Museum of Science and Industry.

Todd W. Lillibridge – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer – Lillibridge Healthcare Real Estate Trust

Todd W. Lillibridge is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lillibridge Healthcare Real Estate Trust, along with Lillibridge Health Trust, two Chicago-based, privately-held healthcare real estate trusts, which acquire, develop and manage medical office and outpatient facilities of leading not-for-profit hospitals and health systems throughout the U.S. Lillibridge operates nationally in 29 markets with over 300 facilities owned and/or managed, with approximately $1.2 Billion in real estate assets. His community and civic commitments include memberships in The Economic Club of Chicago, the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), a member of the Advisory Council of the National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL) and the Young President’s Organization (YPO).

Barry Litwin – Senior Vice President – Corporate Banking Chicago – U.S. Bank

Barry Litwin joined U.S. Bank in July 2001 upon retiring after 30 years with First Chicago/Bank One, to head National Corporate Banking in Chicago. He personally handles all of his banking relationships, including such names as McDonald’s, John Deere, Caterpillar, Whirlpool, Hyatt, Marmon, R.R. Donnelley, Wheels, and Boeing. Litwin has also been on the Financial Management Committee of the American Apparel and Footwear manufacturers Association since 1975, and is on the board of the Anti-Defamation League of Chicago.

Theri Griego Raby, MD – Medical Director/Founder – Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group

Theri Griego Raby, MD, is the Medical Director and Founder of the Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group, Center for Integrative Medicine. She is currently an Adjunct Attending Physician in the Department of Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and an Instructor in Medicine at Northwestern University. Prior to joining Northwestern in 1997 and founding the Physicians Group in 1998, Raby was a Resident at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Internal Medicine, and was later promoted to Chief Medical Resident. She is member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians, and has served as an ACLS instructor for the American Heart Association.

Gary L. Slack – Chairman and Chief Experience Officer – Slack Barshinger

Gary Slack is Chairman and Chief Experience Officer of Slack Barshinger, one of the nation’s leading integrated business-to-business marketing communications agencies. In 2002, and again in 2004, the Business Marketing Association named Slack Barshinger its national “Agency of the Year” for its “ability to create a sustainable competitive advantage for its clients.” Slack is a board member of the Chicago Chapter of the Business Marketing Association and served as its president from 2001 to 2003, doubling membership and quadrupling event attendance during that time. He is a member of the American Marketing Association, the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing, the Chicago Interactive Marketing Association, the Customer Relationship Management Association, the Economic Club of Chicago, and the Executives Club of Chicago.

Susan A. Stone – Litigation Partner – Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP

Susan A. Stone is a litigation partner at Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP, an International business law firm, she specializes in complex commercial litigation and arbitration. She is Co-Chair of Sidley’s world-wide Practice Development Committee, and also serves on other Firm committees, including those devoted to the retention and promotion of women, pro bono efforts, and recruiting. Stone has received various citations in recognition of her legal work, including being named to “Who’s Who in Business Lawyers” and “Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business,” as well as being featured in a legal press article on “The New Generation of Killer Litigators.” Before joining Sidley, she clerked for a federal judge and worked as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles. Stone currently sits on the boards of Roosevelt University and the Chicago Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and is a Director of The Braeside Foundation.
