The Chicago Philharmonic, official orchestra of The Joffrey Ballet, is a collaboration of over 200 of the highest-level classical musicians performing in the Chicago metropolitan area. Called “one of the finest ballet orchestras in the country” (Chicago Sun Times) and “one of the country’s finest symphonic orchestras” (Chicago Tribune), the Chicago Philharmonic not only appears in all Joffrey Ballet performances but also presents symphonic concerts at venues throughout the Chicago area that cover the full spectrum of classical music, from Bach to Bernstein and beyond. Its parent organization, The Chicago Philharmonic Society, is governed under a groundbreaking structure of musician leadership whose roots go back to the organization’s founding in 1988 by principal musicians from the Lyric Opera Orchestra. In addition to its ballet and symphonic performances, The Chicago Philharmonic Society also organizes chamber music concerts and outreach programs all around the Chicago area.
