
The Joffrey II dancers. She was a scholarship student at The Joffrey Ballet School summer
program from 1984 to 1989, studying with Meredith Baylis, Francesca Corkle, John Magnus,
and Trinette Singleton, and participated in the Joffrey Summer Workshops in San Antonio
from 1986 to 1988.
In addition to dancing, Ms. Lopez has been
an assistant ballet mistress with The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago since 1995.
Prior to joining The Joffrey, Ms. Lopez was an apprentice dancer
with New Jersey Ballet (1986-89), where her repertory included THE NUTCRACKER (Clara),
SWAN LAKE (Little Swan), PAQUITA (solo variation), LA VIVANDIERE, and RODEO. Her guest
artist experience includes appearances with Ballet Omaha (1995), as The Serpent in Anne
Marie DeAngelo’s LILITH, with the Wisconsin Dance Ensemble in Madison, Wis. (1996), as
Lise in LA FILLE MAL GARDEE, and most recently (1997), with Ballet Pacifica as the Sugar
Plum Fairy in THE NUTCRACKER.
She began her ballet training at the Garden State Ballet School,
under Fred Danieli. From 1984 to 1989, she studied at the New Jersey School of Ballet with
Joseph Carow, Eleanor D’Antuono, Krystyna Hilding, Jay Norman, and Paul Sutherland.
