PIERRE LOCKETT

joined The Joffrey Ballet in July 1989, after dancing with Dance Theatre of
Harlem from 1982-88. He was a scholarship student at The Joffrey Ballet School from
1980-82. During that time, Lockett studied under Robert Joffrey at the Joffrey Workshop in
San Antonio, Texas.

As a member of the Dance Theatre of
Harlem, Lockett danced John Butler’s OTHELLO. He made several television appearances with
the company, including the PBS “Dance in America” series featuring Dance Theatre
of Harlem’s Creole GISELLE and STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE. Lockett also appeared as a dancer
on television for an AT&T commercial, “60 Minutes,” and “The Today
Show” live from Moscow. From 1988-89, Lockett was a member of the Princeton Ballet.

Lockett began his ballet training with Major Burchfield in his
hometown of Mobile. In addition to ballet, Lockett has studied Afro/Caribbean dance with
Geoffrey Holder, modern dance (Graham technique) with Mary Hinkson, and jazz with Michael
Owens.

Lockett received the Princess Grace Award in 1984.
