Sea Shadow

Choreography: Gerald Arpino
Music: Maurice Ravel
In Sea Shadow, a lush duet inspired by the romantic Ondine fable, a beautiful sea nymph falls in a love with a man, despite the tragic consequences. It is “one of the most beautiful duets in all ballet.” (Walter Terry, late dean of American dance critics) This ballet was created by Joffrey co-founder and former artistic director Gerald Arpino, who would have marked his 90th birthday this year. We perform Sea Shadow in his honor.
“Effectively sensuous”
– The New York Times

Production Sponsor – Jane Ellen Murray Foundation
