Among numerous
roles with The Joffrey, Ms. Kaschock danced the Cowgirl in Agnes de Mille’s RODEO during
the opening night performance of the Company’s landmark 40th Anniversary performance
season at Chicago’s Civic Opera House. Of her performance in RODEO. Andrew Patner of the
Chicago Sun-Times said, “Taryn Kaschock shines as the bittersweet tomboy
Cowgirl.” Ms. Kaschock has also performed the Joffrey Ballet premiere of “Stay
With Me” pas de deux from LEGENDS I.
Ms. Kaschock also performed in the 1997 World Premiere of PORTRAIT
OF HITCH, a cutting-edge piece showcasing Joffrey dancers alongside wheelchair dancers.
Choreographed by fellow Joffrey dancer Davis Robertson, PORTRAIT OF HITCH premiered in a
benefit performance for Chicago’s Access Living, an advocacy organization for individuals
with disabilities.
In 1998 Ms. Kaschock guested with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater
during their spring season, performing such varied repertory as RUBIES, BALLET IMPERIAL
and as
“Cupid” in Terence Orrs staging of DON QUIXOTE.
Ms. Kaschock received her ballet training with the Cumberland Dance
Company in central Pennsylvania, under the direction of Holly Loutzenheiser. She was a
summer scholarship student at the Boston Ballet School in 1992 and 1993, and has worked
with numerous choreographers at the Carlisle (Pa.) Project on several occasions.
