CYNTHIA GIANNINI

joined The Joffrey Ballet in June 1987 after three seasons with The Joffrey
II Dancers. She attended the Joffrey Summer Workshop in San Antonio in 1983 and was a
scholarship student at The Joffrey Ballet School the following year, studying with Daniel
Simmons, Jocelyn Vollmar and Meredith Baylis.

Among numerous
roles with The Joffrey, Ms. Giannini has danced the Sugar Plum Fairy in Robert Joffrey’s
production of THE NUTCRACKER, Frivolity in the Company’s highly-acclaimed reconstruction
of Leonide Massine’s LES PRESAGES, and the Young Girl in Kurt Jooss’ riveting anti-war
ballet, THE GREEN TABLE. She has been featured in Gerald Arpino’s SUITE SAINT-SAENS,
Frederick Ashton’s MONOTONES I, Margo Sappington’s “Melt With You” in the
Arpino-produced rock ballet, BILLBOARDS, and Alonzo King’s CANTE.

In 1994, Ms. Giannini toured Columbia, South America, dancing
Balanchine’s WHO CARES and PAS DE QUATRE with Cynthia Gregory’s Galaxy of Dancers.

An avid writer of poetry, Ms. Giannini collaborated in the
early-’90s with copy writers at Sachi & Sachi Advertising in Los Angeles to create a
marketing brochure for The Joffrey Ballet.
