Jessica Wyatt was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, and received the bulk of her ballet training from the Oregon Ballet Theater. At OBT, she also studied flamenco with Jose Molina, Russian character dancing with Mark Spivak, and Limon technique with Josie Mosley. Jessica has also studied with Haydee Gutierrez in Tampa, Florida, and the Dance Theatre of Harlem and San Francisco Ballet’s summer programs.
Jessica was accepted as an Arpino Apprentice after auditioning at a Joffrey Ballet of Chicago open audition in the spring of 2002. She began dancing with the company in the fall of 2002 and danced several roles in Robert Joffrey’s The Nutcracker.
Jessica cites the “training of Elena Carter Richardson [Jessica’s mother] and the training of Haydee Gutierrez” as the most important influences on her career.
