Valerie Robin joined the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago in July 2000.
Before arriving at the Joffrey, Ms. Robin danced with several companies around the world. After apprenticing with the Tulsa Ballet Theatre, she became a corps member and danced with the company for two years. She then joined the Milwaukee Ballet, under the direction of Basil Thompson. Next, she joined the Leipziger Ballett in Leipzig, Germany, as a soloist where she worked with choreographer/director Uwe Scholz. Ms. Robin then spent one year with the Keiler Ballett working in modern and tanz theatre styles. She then joined Ballet Wisconsin as a principle, dancing with the company for three years.
Ms. Robin began her ballet training as an apprentice with the Tulsa Ballet Theatre, studying under Mocelyne Larkin and Roman Jasinski, Sr., before joining the company as a corps member.
In 1990, Ms. Robin won a bronze medal at the New York International Ballet Competition. In 1992, she competed in the Varna International Ballet Competition and became the first American dancers to reach the final round in ten years.
