Deborah Dawn rejoined The Joffrey Ballet in 1999, after originally joining the Company in 1983. After early training with Marguerite Phares in Sacramento, California, Ms. Dawn accepted scholarships to the School of American Ballet and the American Ballet Theater School.
Ms. Dawn began her professional career with the North Carolina Dance Theater dancing lead roles in ballets such as George Balanchine’s ALLEGRO BRILLANTE, SCOTCH SYMPHONY, SQUARE DANCE and TCHAIKOVSKY PAS DE DEUX.
To further challenge her technical facilities and expressive artistic qualities Ms. Dawn also appears as a guest artist for two New York based companies: Dance Galaxy, co-directed by Judith Fugate and Medhi Bahiri; Ballet: The Daring Project, co-directed by Valentina Kozlova and Margo Sappington. In addition to performing Ms. Dawn also acts as rehearsal director for Ballet: The Daring Project and helps assist Ms. Sappington in setting her ballets around the world.
