Anais Bueno

Anais Bueno joined The Joffrey Ballet in 2013.

Ms. Bueno grew up in Córdoba, Mexico, where she started her first ballet lessons at Fomento Artistico Cordobes at the age of 6. While in Mexico, she successfully took part in two national competitions at the Youth America Grand Prix, winning the silver medal and later the gold. In 2003, Ms. Bueno won a scholarship for the John Cranko School in Stuttgart, Germany where she continued her dance education under the direction of Tadeusz Matacz until she graduated in 2007.

In the season of 2007, Ms. Bueno was taken into Stuttgart Ballet’s Corps de ballet performing in many John Cranko’s works. It was in Stuttgart where she got her first solo opportunity in Giselle’s Peasant Pas de Deux and worked with choreographers such as John Neumeier, Marco Goecke and Christian Spuck. In 2012, she joined the Boston Ballet for one season performing the lead role in Jiří Kylián’s Tar and Feathers, as well as different roles in George Balanchine’s works and solo roles in Frederick Ashton’s The Sleeping Beauty.

Since joining the Joffrey, Ms. Bueno has danced many roles in ballets including Stanton Welch’s La Bayadère and Maninyas; Christopher Wheeldon’s Continuum and Swan Lake; Alexander Ekman’s Episode 31 and Tulle; Robert Joffrey’s The Nutcracker; Justin Peck’s In Creases; and the lead role in Val Caniparoli’s Incantations.

Ms. Bueno has performed in many countries including Canada, Cuba, Japan, Hungary, England, China, Spain, Germany, and Korea and was featured on the cover of Dance Magazine Europe.
