Abigail Simon, a dancer since the age of three, joined The Joffrey Ballet as a company member in 2006.
Prior to joining The Joffrey, Ms. Simon danced with the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Studio Company and was an apprentice with the American Ballet Theatre. She also performed with the School of American Ballet, Ballet Hispanico and the West Side Academy of Ballet in Santa Monica. She has also attended summer programs in Kaatsbaan and Chautauqua, as well as the Royal Ballet in London and The Joffrey Ballet School in New York.
Her experience with the ABT Studio Company includes roles in Monotones I, Symphony in C demi soloist third movement, Sleeping Beauty, Diamond pas de deux, Raymonda, and La Vivandiere, among others. Ms. Simon has also performed the Pas de Deux from Flower Festival and was a principal role in Chopiniana.
She has danced in new choreography by Christopher Wheeldon, Sean Curran, Stephen Mills, Jessica Lang, Benjamin Millepied and Brian Reeder. Ms. Simon also appeared in Broadway’s Phantom of the Opera in a specially-choreographed solo by Gillian Lynne as Victoria the Cat.
Ms. Simon’s hobbies include yoga, Pilates, acting, singing and cooking.
