The Joffrey Ballet

Rudolf Nureyev, a dear friend of The Joffrey and one of the single most influential dancers of the 20th century, revolutionized the role of the male dancer.

This program features three short works which are forever associated with the Nureyev legacy and his connection to The Joffrey: Laurencia Pas d’Action, a dazzling work with a Spanish flair excerpted from the grand Russian classic Laurencia; and Apollo, Balanchine’s masterpiece about the Greek god and his realization of his power. These performances mark The Joffrey’s premiere of Apollo and Laurencia. Finally, Petrouchka is a tale of an endearing and soulful marionette, whose hopeless love for a doll leads to murder.

Join us to experience this breathtaking tribute to one of ballet’s immortal greats.
